Q: Is there graphite on one side or both sides of the transfer-papers?

One side only. Works really well too. If you get any smudges on the paper you're transferring to, just use an ink rubber!

Q: Will this wash off in the washer like a fabric pen? I want to use it for transferring my embroidery designs onto fabrics.

I once had a sheet under the desk and trampled on it for a good while(ops!), it transferred the carbon on my carpet. I managed to wash it off with soap and water but it left a dark hue in the carpet. So it does wash off, but maybe not well enough for delicate fabrics.

Q: Can this be used to provide copies of written documents, i.e. used under a writing pad with a biro instead of the stylus?

Don't buy Stephens Blue Hardcopy Carbon, it's useless for what you want to do. I bought another type of carbon copy paper that really works well with what you have in mind, unfortunately checking my buying history did not go far enough back to discover what make it was, any attempt to discover the product has failed.
