Mole met its match
was recommended by a coworker. My Mini Aussie had caught a mole awhile back, but she was now striking out. I got 2 of these and within 24 hours my problem was caught. These are easy to use and effective and cheaper than paying someone.

Easy to Use and Very Effective at Trapping Gophers!
I was sitting on the fence about buying one of these. I have used just about every available option for keeping gophers in check...bait, box traps, pedal traps...this one works! I was hesitant to buy one because I thought it might involve digging through hard soil to plant the trap. But then my neighbor called me and said I had a gopher digging in my yard by the curb, and asked my permission to trap him with his Gopherhawk. I told him to proceed, and because the gopher was actively digging, he simply stuck the Gopherhawk down the open tunnel and set it. The trap sprung in 9 minutes, possibly a record for trapping a gopher! Well, you can't ask for more of a testimonial than that, so I ordered one.I also ordered a heavy duty garden trowel with a sharp point (search for ASIN B0CRVQ21YC on Amazon). When I saw on my security camera a gopher digging in my yard the day before, I knew I had an active gopher present. I used a long-bladed screwdriver to find the tunnel about 12" away from the mound and, using the sharp point of the trowel, cut a triangular-shaped hole down to the tunnel. I put the Gopherhawk into the tunnel as far as I could, trying to keep the open part of the "cage" facing upward. The Gopherhawk was sitting in the tunnel at an angle by this time. I didn't think it would work that way, that the gopher would sense the end of the trap and avoid it...but 4 hours later, I noticed the trap had sprung. The gopher had climbed over the round end of the cage and hit the trip lever and was dispatched immediately! EZ-PZ, and releasing the gopher from the trap was easier than any other trap I have used. The key to success with this trap, or any other method of gopher removal, is making sure that the gopher is in the area. If you're not sure, open up the tunnel and see how long it takes for the gopher to plug the tunnel. Gophers cannot tolerate an open tunnel...the noise and the fresh air is intolerable to a gopher. Make sure there is a gopher still active in the area and you will have success, especially with an easy to use GopherHawk.

Better for gophers than moles
I have about 6 of these and have been using them for three years. The advantage of these over traditional gopher traps (eg, the ones with jaws that you push onto the tunnel) is that you don’t have to dig a (fairly) large hole in your yard because the Gopher Hawks catch gophers no matter which way they are traveling in the tunnel so you only need one (with conventional traps you need two- one in each direction of the tunnel, since you don’t know which way they’re coming); Gopher Hawks are much faster to set and remove than conventional traps; you can visually see when GH have been triggered; easy to empty out so no messing with gophers bodies. I took off one star because for moles I feel the Wire Tex Gopher Eliminator is better because they work better on the shallower mole tunnels, whereas the Gopher Hawk tends to fall over in the shallow tunnels unless you brace it. Check out YouTube for tips on both the Gopher Hawk and Mole Eliminator.Tip: I spray paint the tops of my gopher Hawks pink or some other bright color so they are easier to spot than black plastic in the bushes. If the trap is really out of sight, I’ll put out a pink wire irrigation flag (garden section at Home Depot) or a pink plastic ribbon on front of the bush to remind me of where the trap is. In theory, you don’t need to leave them out more than a couple days if the tunnel is active, but life gets busy and then I forget where I put them

Not really working for me
In theory, I'm sure these work great. But my ground is just too soft. Everything feels like a tunnel. I've had much better success using the Trapline Gophinator style traps. Of course, that requires digging up more area, but that's what is working for me.
