I don't want to turn down someone's business but they may have to abandon this idea and invent something else. Go instead for the Sienieline interlocking gears which I got at the same time and my kids loved it. Here's why this product is really not ALL THAT!CON: It's not very versatile and there are just very few pedagogical opportunities. With the interlocking gears which I advocate here, my one year old could do something with it as well as my two year old. The scope for advancement was huge: stacking side by side, then moving/swirling the gears, and then stacking on top of each other (figuring out which way is the right way) and then moving whole sets of stacked up gears by swirling/interlocking the gears. BUT, with this product here, you cannot do much! The interlocking parts are intricate and my two year old got it, but as soon as the gears came out, which I thought the younger one would prefer, my two year old quickly ditched this one for the gears. Once you know how these interlock, it ends there. Yes older kids may go on to build maybe the dinosaur in the picture but really, there's not much to it, and for the price.....ah nah!It's taught me a big lesson: sometimes the simple seemingly "unimpressive" toys are best. Best for playing for longer (and play is how children work) and best for learning (play is how children can learn too)Yes while I don't mind having it as an option (perhaps I will see my children develop something new with it as they grow), I consistently see they prefer gears. The other one I'd recommend is the waffles. I got it for my one year old but I did so many tasks with my two year old. You want toys and tools that have varied applications: you can stagger and differentiate difficulty & challenge and offer new ways to do something with THE SAME toy/tool (eg teaching colours, sorting, etc), without having to buy different things for different tasks. Once you've stacked these guys side by side or the star shaped ones on top of each other, etc, that's it really.....not much going. But I am sure my children will have the time to be busy with it to change my mind every now and then.
