My wife and I usually go make something each year for our anniversary (glass blowing, metal smithing, pottery making, etc).But this year (#5) we had 3 sick kids and were both feeling bad as well. I ordered this kit the day before and it made it on time. We stayed up making it and it was easy and satisfying. We both enjoyed the simplicity and took turns choosing and laying out the colors of the next row.A few pointers for anyone that's never "laid tile" before:(The instructions in this are garbage, toss em)1. Only work one or two rows at a time and have the pieces laid out2. Apply the glue and brush out the lumps to get it smooth and then wait a couple minutes to let it get tacky, the pieces will slip around easily if you place them on while the glue is still too wet3. At the halfway point have a plastic bottle or something to put the jar upside down on to keep working when you're unable to hold4. Let dry overnight5. Mix your grout until it's like thick peanut butter6. Apply liberally and work down into every crack7. Let the grout begin to dry for a few minutes and then run the sponge over it (only damp) until you've removed all the excess grout and left a slight film on the tiles.8. Let it dry completely and wipe the film off.Hope y'all enjoy as much as we did. Cheers!

I looked inside and I really think it would be fun to do! I’m giving it to my niece as a birthday gift in July and I believe she will enjoy doing it. She can put all kinds of her things inside it or she can use the battery candle they supply for use which is safe.

Wonderful project. Tried making flower designs. Forgot to leave spaces between the tiles. As it tapers, straight lines are more difficult. Make sure to have your pattern ready ahead of time. Glue sticks quickly. A little goes a long way. I’m ordering more tiles of different shapes to redo the whole thing now I know how it works. And looking forward to doing their candle holder as well.

The media could not be loaded. I love mosaic candles and this is the first one I’d ever made. I really had a good time doing this. It looks great next to the one I already had.I glued half of the tiles first and the other half after the glue was dry on the first tiles so I wouldn’t mess up the placement. I also propped it on a sports drink bottle to apply the grout. I made less of a mess that way.I would definitely recommend this kit. Plenty of times, more than enough glue and grout mix.

Fun project to do with your kids. However, Instructions were not clear on how long to let dry or how much grout vs. water to mix though. Unfortunately, it came with dead batteries and when i went to replace them, the on/off switch broke off!

The media could not be loaded. She loved designing the mosaic herself! Her mother loved she required little supervision (age10 birthday). And I liked the tea light provided was battery operated!
