About a month ago I was having like... A whole series of ailments. I'd have migraines and take meds for those, and then that would irritate my stomach, so I'd take something for my stomach and that would cause some other issue. I started taking a bunch of Tums and literally texted my friend "I'll probably get a kidney stone because of this". Fast forward one month: I've had one surgery to put a stent in my ureter, and am waiting for another surgery to break up the 1cm kidney stone with a Lazer. There's still an entire other kidney stone left in my kidney that isn't stuck in the pipe. This is just a long way of saying: Tums (and any antacid that works by neutralizing the acid) are great for a quick relief from GERD and heart burn, but use them with caution and moderation. If you've ever had a kidney stone blocking the tube leading out of your kidney, you know what I mean. If you haven't... You don't want to. Acid reflux is like a spa day in comparison.
