Q: can be safely used in an enamel cast iron ?

Yes, you can. When using a stick blender you can avoid touching the bottom and sides of the pot if you like. However, the blade is protected by a shield, so you don't actually damage anything even if you do hit the pot. I make soup in my enamel cast iron with no problem or injury to the delicate enamel. The whisk attachment would hit the cast iron but all my whisk work is done is bowls where the whisk doesn't damage the stainless steel or hard plastic bowls. BTW, I really like this Braun corded stick blender. I had an All-Clad cordless blender and the battery stopped holding a charge after about 9 months of light use. The Braun is much more powerful, and the cord is not really a problem. Pureeing a soup or sauce only takes 2-3 minutes or less.

Q: The top of this 2-cup food processor has gears. Can anyone tell me if the gearing is to speed it up or slow it down? And by how much?

Most likely it is to provide more torque for chopping resulting in a slower speed. You can compare the number of teeth on the gears to determine the speed ratio. Half the teeth on the drive gear = half the speed.

Q: compare to Baxmix, please other than price...I have a Bamix but after 40 years need replacement. Advice?

Don’t know the model you referenced but this is the best kitchen I oil Zi have purchased in years. I use it daily.
