Depending upon how much stubble you have. If you shave every day, one pass should do the trick. The secret to really getting the smoothness to last longer, is to shave with the direction of your hair growth, then lather your face and shave in the opposite direction of your hair growth. Q: Will this fit the competitors brand Merkur?

I have a Merkur 38 C HD, and the 510 Progress adjustable. The blade works in both. It should work in any razor that is configured for double edged razors. I haven't kept up with Merkur's offerings, but if it uses a standard double edge blade, this blade should work. I found the blade's performance in the 38 C HD to be fair. However in the adjustable 510 Progress, this blade's performance was decidedly poor, I assume due to the wide gap I set the razor at. I found in the 510 Progress, Wilkinson Sword and especially the Personna blades in the blue box, Amazon # ASIN: B0077LAJT2 to work very well. The Personna blades are a bargain at $12.45 per hundred. Inexpensive and the best blade I have found for the adjustable 510. Note: there is an Israeli made Personna blade that comes in a red box that I did not care for. The one product that I absolutely love from Van Der Hagen is their unscented luxury shaving soap, ASIN: B004L48O36. Absolutely no scent and it never irritates my skin.
