Effectiveness depends on your height and the airline
First things first: I've used this on both Frontier and Southwest, I'm 5'10" with an average length upper body. This pillow does not work for me if it's in my lap or propped up on the tiny minimal pull down tray on Frontier - it's just too short, and you end up hunching over in an uncomfortable position. I tried to fix this my trying about every position on the pillow. HOWEVER, if you have a full pull down tray like on Southwest, it works decently - if you prop the pillow on the tray. This worked for both me and my 6' tall girlfriend. So unless you have something on your lap that props up the pillow 4-5 inches (Like a folded blanket in your lap), I don't think this works well for a slightly above average sized man. This would probably work great for someone 5'5" or shorter in all situations. Unfortunately, this is one of the tallest travel pillows of this style out there...It was really easy to inflate and deflate, seems to be of durable construction. If this were just 5" taller, it would be perfect.

Ok, So mostly yes
One the one hand I would say that it isn't perfect. There are a few things that are displeasing. One of them is that the hole for the face is not perfect. I have to chose between having my jaw inside or out of the hole and I'm not sure that I know which is better. One seems more uncomfortable, the other make my jaw move out of place. Weird. It is nice to have something to rest my head though and feel like Im almost belly down if I hug it tight. All that being said, I was able to get a few hours of sleep with it when in the past I have taken multiple LONG 12+ hour flights and have never slept. So that is good right?

Ok for kids, takes up a lot of space
I wanted to like this product so bad. I bought these for a 9 hour flight. The review photo shows my daughter decently comfortable for a few minutes. The pillow is too high if it sits on the tray table but, requires a hunched, bent over position when it's on your lap. My daughter didn't have to hunch over too much since she is only 4'10". I am 5" taller (still short) and couldn't get comfortable hunched over like that without my back aching. The pillow is very large and takes up your entire lap. If you want to change position, there's really no other place to put it.It was easy to inflate/deflate but it still took up a lot of room in my bag and just wasn't that comfortable for any of us.

Wonderful!
Just used this wonderful pillow on a looooong international flight and was thrilled with how comfortable it was! I used it both as a face pillow on the plane tray, and also with it placed on the side to use like a regular pillow (let out a little bit of air for a more comfy rest). I also liked how how could place my glasses inside the pillow to store while sleeping. I have tried another brand and this one definitely was better quality, with a much more comfortable fit around the face rim and overall resting height.

anxious to try-out
flying seems uncomfortable lately. but this travel pillow seems comfortable enoughbut being a taller person I will have to put it on the tray in front of me.it took about 8 breaths to fill. now anxious for my next flight just to use it.

So far, performing as or better than expected in testing.
I won't be using this pillow for another 6 months or so and I will edit my review if it does not perform as expected. But, so far, all tests have been good and it's very comfortable, has no odor, and will help me sleep on long, red-eye flights. I will throw a blanket over the pillow to make it even more comfy but the flocking on the plastic is comfortable by itself.
