Gibson Home Ultra Round 6 Pack 10 Inch Opal Glass Break and Chip Resistant, Lightweigth Round Dinner Plates

These are perfectly what I was looking for! They are sturdy, white match up with anything. They are thin and lightweight.

I previously bought a set of Corelle Livingware dishes. Every dinner plate has chips even though they haven't had any rough handling. The small plates and bowls were all fine so I wanted a replacement for just the dinner plates. I have been using the Gibson plates for a while and they have been holding up with no problems. The color matches the Corelle perfectly. Nobody would notice that they are from a completely different company. They are a bit heavier but that doesn't bother me. I did ask Corelle for replacements and they have ignored me.

These are pretty much the same as Corelle's tempered glass plates, but Gibson is a bit thinner, with worse quality control.The surface on some of our plates have slight protrusions at parts - like little bumps that clearly isn't meant to be there. There's no sharp edges, and it's still safe to eat from though.They're pretty strong, safe to cut on, dishwasher safe, microwave safe, and overall very adaptable plates. These sorts of plates are chip and break resistant, until they catastrophically break, at which point they shatter. The edges might wear a bit, but their strength comes from the tempering which makes them strong but brittle once something does hit them hard enough to break them.These also stack with Corelle plates, but are slightly taller, so there's a space under them as a result.I see no reason to recommend these over Corelle. You're not saving any money, and are dropping quality in exchange for a bit less weight... but by themselves these are fine plates that work fine in any dining room.Made in China.

The set I received are bright white and from afar look like premium quality plates; however, upon closer examination they’re highly flawed.For the most part, they’re quite thin making them light weight. The plates have a smooth surface that’s unfortunately marred by small dents, bumps, or black specs scattered about. Each plate has its own shape, height, and size which highlight the level of poor craftsmanship that went into manufacturing them. Due to the irregularities of individual plates, they do not sit flush when stacked.The underside of the plates around the rim is ribbed for better grip when washing them by hand, and the bottom has a semi-rough surface so they're not too slick to handle. I haven’t had any issues with them in terms of breakage, chips, or cracks, so at the moment I cannot comment on their durability. If something does happen then I’ll return to update this review.Overall, if bad aesthetics doesn’t bother you then I’d say these could be the best set of plates you ever owned for an incredibly low price. But if you’re like me and cannot stand imperfections, you may be better off looking elsewhere for your next set of dinner plates. Then again, these would be great plates to use during cookouts or seafood boils when aesthetics doesn’t matter.
