This adapter worked perfect for me. I had ordered a tow brake assist that was supposed to be plug and play. It was not. I purchased this adapter. It plugged into the unit then into my fuse box and everything works perfectly.

It's alway a hassle to mate wiring to a piece of hardware. This adapter takes all the fuss and work out of attaching the brake controller to the existing wiring harness and eliminates any confusion as to which wire goes to which pen. Well worth the price in terms of clarity and simplicity of installation.

Easily installed and great value.

The harness was not in the plastic clamshell package as pictured in the description. It was thrown in a USPS plastic bag mailer and the package was damaged by USPS in transit. The harness itself was not damaged and is usable, should have been packaged better.

Having the adapter, which uses the same wire color codes as the controller, makes wiring the brake control an easier job. It also makes it easy to disconnect the controller, should that be needed at any time. The adapter fit the controller perfectly. Very pleased with the arrangement, since my vehicle had no plug-ins and the controller would have had to be hard-wired without the adapter.

Well worth the 8 bucks. My 08 Chevy Express 3500 was pre-wired under the dash. If your vehicle came with tow package, the wires to connect 8506911 Adapter Harness are located in the emergency brake and firewall region. They will be bundled up. Red/with white stripe. dark blue, light blue(smaller gauge)black. There will be a factory tag as to each wire's function. You must connect Red/white stripe to the fuse box in the engine bay. Preferably to one the terminals that visible(exposed) left side of fusebox under the small terminal cover on the left side of fusebox. I opted to tap into red/white stripe about 2 feet where it exited into the engine bay from the firewall. As I could not find the factory ring terminal that was supposed to be provided/w trailer pkg. Also you may have to remove some of the loom protector to expose the Red/white power wire. You may have to remove the airbox to gain better access to Loom and engine bay fusebox. It's pretty tight in there. Adapter Harness 8506911 was mated to a Reese Brakeman IV Controller. It will mate to some Tekonsha, and Drawtite controllers also.

Works great

This is only a plug and 12 inches of wire. There's no way it's worth more than $3, but you are stuck buying it if you bought a Reese brake controller and they don't sell a factory harness for your vehicle.I installed on a 2009 Honda Odyssey, and sure this wiring harness plug worked great. It plugs directly into my Reese Brake controller, and has the 4 wires I need coming from the controller. I ran all my own wiring in the van up to under the dash, I then soldered my wiringing to this plug and then plugged it into my controller.

False advertising. Not a GM connector. Just a plug and bare wires. This basic item should have been included with the brake controller. Not happy with the price of this product. I expected the plug and play GM adapter to Trucks with a tow package.

I bought a Reese Brake Controller and bought this as well to make installing it in my truck easier.I have a 2013 GMC Sierra and was disappointed to find out that it didn't come with a plug preinstalled from the manufacturer (although they did run the wires for it). So after some research I bought this adapter in order to wire this into the truck rather than wire in the the brake controller directly. Now I can simply unplug the brake controller from the adapter to move to another vehicle.I'm not really sure if this is model specific to GM as advertised or not, but it wasn't for my 2013 Sierra.

Plugs into the brake control harness and avoids having to cut the connector off and use butt connectors. My 2005 Grand Cherokee doesn't have a factory installed connector so this saved me time when installing the controller.

Very easy to install for the value and easy to use will buy from that seller again.
