I had heard about this product on a women's health podcast that was specifically talking about how older people do not process protein the same and we need more protein as we get older to maintain muscle mass. Supposedly this product can help with building and maintaining of muscle, so I wanted to try it. I had also read that this is one of the supplements Tony Horton had used to help him recover after his illness.I have gotten back to working out consistently and being mindful of getting enough protein, which can be very challenging. I was supplementing with 3g per day of this HMB Powder and despite my resistance and HIIT training my muscles still felt soft to me. A way I could always tell was when I would cross my arms and feel my biceps, they felt pretty strong and not soft. I was still feeling soft and thought the HMB powder really wasn't benefiting me at all. However, I decided to give it more time because I heard it can take a month or more until your body starts to adapt to it. I think it was about a month and a half in I noticed my arms feeling strong again and even after missing a week or two of workouts they still felt strong. I do believe it is from the HMB Powder as I mentioned I was struggling before.I would be curious to go without it and see if I noticed a decline in my strength and mass without it, but after all the hard work and consistency I've had I'm not sure it's worth it to me.This product does not come with a scoop and suggests 1/3 of a tsp as a serving size, so I just eyeball it. I use it in my morning smoothie and do not notice any difference in taste. Sometimes I take a little bit more post workout just mixed with protein powder and also notice no additional flavor. My husband and I both take it and one pouch has lasted us quite a while with both of us taking it daily.I would definitely recommend it. Give it TIME and see if it works for you!

This is the first HMB product that I have purchased that was not already in capsules (I am an "old school" guy that used HMB back in the '90's when it was exclusively from EAS, and I recently tried the Met-Rx product). Being able to measure out an amount is both liberating and worrisome since spills can occur.One negative comment I have is that the product does not seal very well, and that is due to the powdery nature of the HMB interfering with the pressing seal. That does not affect the product's potency or effectiveness and should be listed under product packaging.I have only used this product for five days as of the time of this review (one gram, three times per day, mixed in with oatmeal or protein). It mixes well with hot oatmeal. My initial attempts at taking it measured onto a spoon and chasing it with a drink almost ended disastrously (coughing, almost spit it out due to how dry it is). It does not have a taste. Mixing with a spoon into a liquid did not work well, with the product staying together on top of the mixed protein. Again, I must note that the product mixed completely into the oatmeal I made and was tasteless.The cost of the HMB is fantastic. A month's supply of Met-Rx costs more than the 250 grams I purchased, and this will last 83 days taken as directed. Once I have used the HMB, I will update to note any alterations to my physique and whether I will purchase again. As of now, the initial effects of the HMB are, like all HMB I have ever tried, difficult to note. HMB is a "marathon" supplement that does not give immediate drug-like effects like, well, dianabol will.UPDATE (5 weeks after initial commentary): I have added Longjack, Maca, and Tribulus Terrestris, all from Bulk Supplements, to a PCT stack with this HMB. The stack works well considering the precursors taken. Testosterone levels are hovering around 900 (under 400 in January 2015). Maintenance of gains (12 lbs. of lean mass) has been good for about a month. BF% is at 6% with a bodyweight of 225 lbs.

In the interest of full disclosure, I was asked to write this review in exchange for a free product from Bulk Supplements. I do, believe, however, that this review will be unbiased.Next, I would clarify that I have only been taking this supplement for about a week, so I can't really comment on long term outcomes but I can review the product itself, packaging, and customer service.The product is extraordinary in so far as I was able to mix it with fruit juice with little to no impact on the taste. The biggest problem, as noted by several before me, is that the package is an envelope containing a very fine white powder that will burst into a cloud of white dust if you so much as bump it and once it has been opened, it is virtually impossible to reseal. I put it into a different container with a screw top lid and found it to be much more user friendly. In fact, when I got it from our mailbox, I was on my way to workout so decided too immediately put a scoop into my water bottle. Well, I got it open and then hit a bump and got white powder all over my hands, steering wheel, center console, and pants. Thank goodness I didn't get pulled over because my car looked like a cocaine deal gone bad.All in all, I love the value and apparent quality but the packaging needs to be seriously reworked.
