Where is this unit made?

A couple of questions:
1.  Where is it made?    China.   Like most products these days, electronics, medical supplies and even medications, it is made in China
2.  Does it get a sticky coating?   I have had 2 radios that did get sticky.   This one is made of a hard plastic and I do not for see that happening with the material used in construction.
3. Size:  This thing is not as big as one might think.  It is compact and will easily fit into a back pack leaving considerable room for a bag of nachos or a couple of MREs and other goodies. 
RECOMMENDATIONS is rechargeable batteries ( 3 each AAA size) BUT, I do not see how they can be recharged by the unit (but maybe they can!   There is a switch that MUST be made when these are installed (which could allow for recharging).  If standard AAA batteries are used, it then must be switched back.    So, I THINK ((meaning I do not know for a fact) that this switching will allow for the recharging of the rechargeable Lithium batteries that YOU install (I think there is another one installed that provides basic functionality.  Unit comes switched for use with standard AAA batteries (not supplied).
4.  Can you plug this thing into a wall outlet?  Not without an adaptor.  It has a USB cord.  Many cell phone recharging cords now have wall plugs that a USB connector plugs into the side (or top?) allowing one to use house current.  So, all you need is an outlet with a USB jack or a plug from a cell phone that allows for the use of a USB plug.
5.  Antenna.   No, this antenna is not removable like your car antenna (those that have that whip looking thing on the right front of your car. 
If you are that deep into electronics, then you will know (there is a mathematical formula) for creating the length of antenna you need.   I would say one can wire another antenna to this one and adjust the 'electrical" length by adjusting the existing antenna.  May if you in Omaha, you can pick up Sidney, Australia!
2nd Recommendations:  Get the Rechargeable batteries,, toggle the switch  to Lithium batteries, plug it into a wall outlet, turn volume to low, an (after selecting your nearest NOAA station) and you SHOULD get an audible warning when the weather gets nasty.  At this point, even if you lose power, you will be fully charged.  If done near a doorway, you can grab the radio on the way to the shelter.

Can i charge this radio with regular aaa batteries that are not the rechargeable kind?

Can the li-ion battery be replaced with a nimh battery so it can be recharged with a nimh charger?

Hi,Nimh batteries generally have a voltage of 1.2-1.5V, and the CR1009 has a built-in 18650 lithium battery of 3.7V, so the Nimh batteries that are common in the market cannot be used on our weather radio

What type of AC power cable should I purchase for this unit?

Hi, this weather radio only comes with a Micro-USB to USB cable, you need to charge the device plugged with a 100-240V AC plug(not included). If you want to charge your phone, we suggest you use your own charger cable.
