Pretty good overall

There are some pretty good tunes in this set. Some of them are a little longer winded but most are fairly good being not quite trance and not quite dance. I almost like to think of this set as a much more upbeat and longer running trance themed lounge music. This is fine for me as I needed something more relaxing while at work and driving to work these days....

Hope you like scratched CDs...

The music on this compilation is wonderful so far, but the packaging is cheap, crappy, and seems practically designed to make you scratch your brand new discs as you struggle to liberate them from their abrasive cardboard sleeves. Stupid.

Fell in love with "Recapture" on Disc 1

Fell in love with "Recapture" on Disc 1. BT is a great accompaniment to this collection. Kind of sad that the ISOS series seems to be in limbo now.

BT and Richard Durand delivers

In Search of Sunrise has been in a bit of limbo on Tiesto's last contributions to the series as well as the first by Richard Durand. This one stands out as one of the better ISOS compilations. Both Richard and BT does excellent jobs. Pleasant surprise!

Trance?

The 13th instalment of the ‘In Search Of Sunrise’ series takes us to Amsterdam where Richard Durand, BT and the Black Hole Recording's team bring us a 3 mix compilation showcasing where Trance and the 'In Search Of Sunrise’ brand has evolved to after 16 years. The first mix starts with a beautiful enchanting intro and features an abundance of Trance elements that have been carefully and neatly segmented, and then with immaculate care and attention, wrapped snugly in the ISOS’s secret recipe productions before being polished off to perfection and then presented to us for our enjoyment. First to the grand stand is Michael Badal with Sue McLaren’s – Recapture, where underlying vocals wrap themselves around and smother hazed baselines as Richard Durand takes us on a deconstructed mix through a host of motionless brilliance including the hollowing echoes of Azotti’s – First Kiss and the perfectly timed directions of Masoud Feat. Hysteria!’s – Pull Me Back Again. When Richard Durand’s gifted hand signals to Tom Cloud’s – The Longest Road, rather than take the opportunity to absolutely smash the set home, instead it turns to the dark side as a furious drift of colliding EDM skyscrapers smash their way through.Moving onto the second mix, again we find ourselves caught up in a chaotic realm of EDM darkness as a continuous program of pulsating vibrations sets out to evaporate all that lies within their path. A few definitive tracks which include Michael Badal & Lotte Kestner’s – Fly (Never Come Down Again) (Kris O Neil Remix) and the appropriately titled Time Warp – Richard Durand stand to oppose and once again we find ourselves lost in a contoured moment of angelic Trance and demonic EDM.Needless to say that BT's third set continues on with the same combination and doesn’t offer much to a discerning Trance fan other than it’s stimulating organic Trance structures which brings me to an unenthusiastic conclusion. If you are a fan of EDM, then just like any other genre of music, you are entitled to your enjoyment and if DJ’s such as Richard Durand and BT are in a position to play to both, then great admiration is due. However, this goes a lot deeper than just a difference of genres. This release highlights the necessities (or lack of) branding and whether EDM has captured the world’s attention or not, this brand belongs to the Trance genre. As fans of Trance, we are continuously infuriated when releases such as this become infested with EDM modules and labels (and DJ’s) are obviously well aware of this. We want our Trance back and may I take this opportunity to say that EDM has no place whatsoever on the ISOS brand and that the ritual of keeping Trance alive by denying it from its fans has become more than an unpleasant affair. A split compilation would be a likely compromise but this release doesn't even offer that. Enough is enough and I know for a fact that there are millions of Trance fans out there who would justifiably agree.

SUPER!!!!

Really love Richard Durands music, so a new cd with music is a treat. It seems to me that his music is getting more enjoyable with every cd he brings out and I'm very happy listening to this one.Its got a couple of chill out tracks that I usually get irritated by but these are pretty soothing and nice.As for the rest of the tracks, they're absolutely lovely with great sounds and melodies and some beautiful vocals. The third cd is by BT who has a bit different style but it all goes well together and it is very easy to just sit with the headphones on and closed eyes to listen to the three cds in a row.Highly recommended.Thank you once again Richard Durand as well as BT.

In search of sunrise NOT

This CD sounds very little like ISOS. It you are looking for something like the amazing Tiesto ISOS mixes of Ibiza and Asia don't bother with this CD, you are better off going for a Roger Shah Magic Island mix. Its not a bad CD its just not ISOS. There are lots of EDM CDs out there like this and its nothing special. Richards earlier efforts were better especially the first two. I for one will not be buying another ISOS CD unless a new DJ takes over. BUT it does in places sound a little like the 'new' Tiesto in his role of American main stream DJ obsessed with hit singles.

Excellent album

Love this album. First CD is bang up to date progressive trance, sounding like the old gatecrasher albums before they sold out to the commercial market. Cd 2 is good uplifting and vocal trance. Then CD 3 is a great mix across the 2 genres. Love ISOS and this album is spot on
