But especially as a black woman with a kinship to Jill's life, this book of poetry is awesome and feels like she is speaking my story. In the foreward Jill recounts how when she was a young girl and discovered the poetry of Nikki Giovanni she felt that Nikki's poetry was speaking directly to her. That is EXACTLY the way I feel when I read Jill's poetry. Raw, emotional, soft, loud, erotic, historic and powerful...only a few words that barely describe the beautiful array of feelings and senses and phases of life that her words evoke. GET THIS BOOK. Whether or not you are a lover of modern poetry, one read and you will become a lifetime fan of this woman. Jill Scott is the truth.

I just got this book yesterday and im about to start on it! it came within a week so im elated about that! the condition of the book is immaculate and new! im going to love reading this! thank you! the book is great ivew had it for about a couple weeks now and its geat! jill scott is just awesome reading her poetry is like your there with her or your in her head and you her evey thought. what a sustained and talented sista! the book is eally good! i love it!

This book is AMAZING!! Some of the poems in the book actually turned into some of her most classic songs. Miss Jill Scott is wicked with the pen. There is a poem for every emotion. Some poems will make u laugh and some will leave u shaking your head. This book is a MUST!!!

She is the most beautiful and humble human. I love this queen.

Come on, it's Jill Scott. You can't go wrong when it pertains to Jill Scott. Brand new unused book came withing 1-2business days properly secured.

I absolutely adore the talents of Jill Scott. I love her passion in her art, her singing voice with her tailor made songs and I love to hear her speak when she recites poetry on the odd occasion that I will get to hear it. However, this book did not meet my high expectations as I had anticipated. The book is a good read and would be much appreciated by fans and other poetry lovers but it did not 'wow' me. Some topics were disturbingly repetitive and I expected more range. It is worth a read but I prefer to listen to her self-written songs as opposed to reading her poetry or to just watch her perform her poems. That would be more satisfactory I suppose.

As a fan this is just a nice keep sake to own - collectors item. Poetry is not all by Jill Scott though but nice to imagine it's pieces she may have selected.

I am a huge fan of Jill Scott's music, and to come across this book, well, i could hardly wait for it to arrive. Anyone who is familiar with jill's music will not be disappointed with the content and style of this poetry collection.

her words are just absolutely beautiful and honest. I've always been a fan of her lyrics and music but this book is something else - I can relate so much to it.
