I had purchased a cisco3925 and a Motorola RFS6010, after some research ended up on Amazon looking for the best price and relevant feedback on compatibility with my iMac. Historically I was use to serial connections via com1 ports and Rs232, the move to USB windows10 and now Apples for ever upgrading OS/security (which always seems to result in stuff just not working) I was concerned that this would be another painful experience.The cisco kit can actual use both rj45 and mini usb but the RFS6010 required a RJ45 for console and management port access. Connection to the iMac was fine, the USB port was located (ls -itr/dev/*usb*) perfect. I downloaded a couple of good for apps to play around with terminal connections. The cisco router just connected fine not setting required the RFS6010 - was returning loads of scrambled characters, that was corrected by adjusting the speed settings. tip both worked with IOS ssh terminal, use the the above command to obtain the port ref and paste that into terminal... instead of an IP address.

I carry this cable around in my laptop bag. As a network engineer I use the cable every day. The quality is excellent and after a few months of been in constant use and been slung in my bag it continues to remain in great condition and works every time.

Does exactly what you would expect, replaces the previous 2 cable setup (USB to DB9 + DB9 to RJ45) with a single cable. Once you've downloaded the device driver (no instruction on how to find these with the cables, btw) it just works, and allows you to make a terminal connection to your device's (switch, router, etc) console.As mentioned, there's only one small issue with these: When you order, you do not get any documentation, or instructions with the cables (I ordered a 5-pack, and got just the cables in a box with 5 plastic bags with the cables), so finding the driver took a little detective work (though managed to find it in about 5 mins).

I do a lot of switch config work and these cables are so much easier to use instead of the old serial to usb converters with the console cables. No messing around with drivers etc. Now I just carry a couple of these, I can configure multiple switches/routers in one go!

This is great, not had any issues at all with it, good length, no driver issues etc. works on most Cisco enterprise devices. Found that sometimes the oem Cisco usb console cables disconnect when the switch shuts down, so you can’t read output however these don’t. Perfect

Good quality cable, worked perfectly with the HP switch I had to reconfigure.

It worked and was as described. Not much else to say.

Got fed up of only having one usb to serial adapter so got this as a second one for home lab. Works with all the kit I’ve tried and it a lot more compact than my previous adapter + serial cable.
